Barely 15 years after its introduction, the AMG CLK63 Black Series is already quite collectible. The combination of the awesome nature of the car itself plus its rarity (just 500 were made worldwide, and only 349 for the United States) means that these cars have aged very well in the eyes of both enthusiasts and collectors. The first Black Series car ever made by AMG, the CLK63 Black Series was substantially revised, both cosmetically and mechanically over the already spicy CLK63.
The most visible changes are to the bodywork, which gained flared wheel arches and the front and rear bumpers to go with, along with substantial side skirts. The flared wheel arches accommodate a substantially widened track: 3 inches wider in the front and 2.6 inches in the back, with wider wheels to go with. The result is a DTM-inspired look that is so outrageous that it would look aftermarket were it not for the tastefulness and high quality of the execution. The chassis is strengthened with additional bracing around the engine compartment and in the trunk, while weight is reduced by removing the rear seats. The whole package is motivated by a fabulously old-school powerplant: a 6.2 liter naturally-aspirated AMG V8 which produces 500hp and magnificent large displacement V8 noises. The result of all these changes is a much harder-edged car, both in terms of its visual impact and its behavior on the road, and represented a particularly stark departure for Mercedes-Benz at the time.
This particular car is an extremely clean example which is well-documented and has been enthusiastically owned. Finished in Obsidian Black (a metallic shade), one of the rarest colors for the Black Series, It comes with service records back to when it was 4 years old, which show consistent service including fluid changes, brake service, and new cylinder head bolts and timing cover gasket which were installed in November 2020. In addition to service records, the car comes with books and a copy of the window sticker.
