The FIAT Abarth 595 Esse Esse is a creation by the legendary Carlo Abarth. After an initial experience in Cisitalia, in 1948 the Austrian engineer moved to Turin, setting up a production of exhaust systems and performance kits for normal cars, mostly Fiat. Seeing his business growing, he strength with collaboration with some of the most respected italian coach builders, creating also stylish sport prototypes and limited-series production cars. Motivated by his desire to realize a sport car for everybody, in the summer of 1963 he presented the 595. Externally very similar at the original Fiat 500, all the differences were under the bonnet. 34 bhp, 594 cc inline two-cylinder engine with two single-barrel carburetors, four-speed manual transmission, front and rear independent suspension, and four-wheel drum brakes. Abarth’s ability was to implement the right mechanical upgrades, creating a real little pocket-rocket. The SS variant came right after, differentiating by model identification badges, black moulded-rubber, engine-cover straps in place of the regular Fiat handle.
This Specific car was sold from new to a lady by Official Fiat Dealer “Sicauto Spa” from Milan in March 1969. The order was done with many optionals such as the leather steering wheel, locking steering column, hard top (original soft top available) and a Lancia Stratos Alcantara seat at the driver position (the standard one is also available). Everything is documented in the purchase order contract, still in its original copy. The car was sold in 1983 to a new owner, who took care of the car making some maintenance and restoration works. After 15 years of ownership he sold it in 1998 to its actual owner. With only 3 owners in total it has a very clear history. All the documentation from the purchase order, maintenance book and many other papers makes it a unique sample, very hard to find in this almost perfect conditions.
