1992 Porsche 964 RS

1992 Porsche 964 RS

Extremely Clean 37,000 km RoW 964 Carrera RS, Among the Best-Driving 911s of All Time.

Together with the 993 RS, the 964 RS represents the pinnacle of the air-cooled, driver-focused 911. Rightfully heralded as the true successor to the legendary 1973 Carrera 2.7 RS and 1974 Carrera 3.0 RS, the 964 RS was thoroughly but subtly re-engineered to transform the comparatively civilized 964 Carrera 2 into a lively, effervescent embodiment of everything that driving enthusiasts revere the 911 for.

While the America RS was simply a Carrera 2 with the optional sport suspension, cloth seats, rear seat delete, no power steering, and decals, the non-US car was engineered as a coherent, complete package. This started with the chassis, which was seam-welded and was left without sound proofing. The suspension was unique to the car, the engine tuned for more power, gear ratios revised, a lightened flywheel fitted, power steering deleted, and much of the interior trim and accessories removed. Manual windows, Recaro racing type bucket seats, and lightweight glass continued the focused theme, and the resulting car weighed nearly 350 pounds less than a stock US Carrera 2.

This particular example was sold new in Japan, where it was used sparingly before being imported to the UK, where it lived for a few years prior to being imported to the United States.
