1997 Alfa Romeo RZ Roadster
The Alfa Romeo ES30 SZ / RZ has been a true breakthrough car for Zagato. With this interesting GT, adequately nicknamed "Il Mostro" aka The Monster the legendary Milanese atelier created a true instant classic. Easily distinguishable from any road car on both the roads of yesterday and today, the RZ is a true love-it-or-hate-it sort of car. The advanced Modar resin panels produced by UK's ICI helped to keep the weight down and it showcased an impressive amount of know-how by Alfa Romeo.
Based on the platform of the excellent 3.0 V6 75 saloon, the SZ was introduced in 1989 as Alfa Romeo's flagship 2-door GT. It was not an immediate success, but customers praised its sincere handling and neutral behaviour, the spacious cockpit and luxurious interior. The RZ, the roadster variant of the SZ came in 1991 and it is even rarer than the SZ, being produced only in 278 examples.
This immaculate 1993 example is the 134th car built and was delivered new in the Netherlands. It has covered less than 48.000 km since new and it's finished in the rather exotic yellow paintwork and it's in outstanding condition.
