2005 Maserati Trofeo GT
Introduced in 2003, Trofeo Maserati is a one-make series similar to Ferrari Challenge. It was created to provide gentleman drivers with relatively turnkey racing experience that could be tailored to include mechanical support, driving instruction and hospitality if desired. Each entrant raced the same car, a stripped out version of the 4200 GT street car, whose weight was reduced by 550 pounds thanks to the elimination of considerable equipment and the use of carbon fiber doors and hood. A less restrictive exhaust system was fitted, and dedicated wheels and suspension also employed.
This particular car is a factory built race car, one of four imported by Maserati North America. It has been fastidiously kept with pre- and post- track day services by Competizione Motors located at Sonoma Raceway. The car has no damage history and has benefitted from rebuilt heads, a new F1 pump, as well as a factory remap. It is equipped with Öhlins suspension and is in turnkey condition, having been tracked most recently in 2021. The car comes with a spares package that includes an extra driver’s seat, a second set of factory wheels with tires, and a supplemental silencer so the car can be run at tracks with sound limits.
