2010 Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano HGTE

Two-Owner California Car Equipped with HGTE Package. Complete with Books, Tools, Compressor, and Vehicle Identification Passport.

Arriving at the 2006 Geneva Auto Show as the replacement for the 575M Maranello, the front-engine V12 flagship 599 GTB Fiorano was a stunning, modern, high performance grand touring car, the latest in a long tradition of front-engined Ferrari V12 sports cars. Incorporating the latest in aerodynamics and materials technology, the 599 also incorporated significant mechanical improvements. A revised version of the F1 transaxle backed the Enzo-derived 6 liter V12, all of which was installed in an all-new aluminum chassis. The 612hp engine was placed well-back in the chassis for optimal balance, and the Fiorano lived up to its high-speed test track namesake, delivering a 206 mph top speed and 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds.

Penned by Pininfarina, the 599’s design was among the last of their cars for Ferrari. Incorporating both superb aerodynamics and stunning visual features, the car has remarkable and distinctive “floating” rear sail panels which directly funnel high speed air into a downforce stabilizing tail surfacing edge. A technical tour-de-force of engineering and design, the Fiorano remains one of the finest and most balanced GT cars ever produced by Ferrari.

Short of the limited-production track-oriented GTO variant, the ultimate configuration for the 599 is the HGTE, which is distinguished by a comprehensive upgrade package that transforms the dynamic characteristics of the car. Stiffer springs reduce the ride height, while a stiffer rear roll bar improves handling balance by enhancing turn-in. The chassis upgrades of the HGTE are completed by modular wheels with upgraded tires, as well as sportier settings of the adjustable magneto-rheological shock absorbers. Calibrations of both the engine and transmission are revised, making both more responsive, and the exhaust system also modified to deliver a more tuneful exhaust note. Inside the car, carbon fiber bucket seats are fitted, together with additional carbon fiber interior trim. The numerous but relatively incremental sounding changes are surprisingly impactful, the car feels much lighter, more lithe, more responsive and alive in a way that belies the expectations set by the HGTE upgrade list. It truly feels like a different car.

This particular HGTE is a two-owner California car supplied to its first owner in Truckee, California by Ferrari dealer Steve Harris Imports. Its second owner purchased it in 2013 and the car has covered a total of approximately 11,000 miles. Optional equipment  beyond the critical HGTE package includes red brake calipers, Scuderia fender shields, carbon fiber driving zone, carbon fiber lower driving zone, carbon fiber door panels, dual zone leather/alcantara interior, rosso cavallini embroidered on headrests, rear parking sensors, and chrome grill. In addition to the tool kit, compressor, and books set in pouch, this car also comes with Ferrari Vehicle Identification Passport, which includes photos of the car being built and the dates of important milestones during its construction such as the date when the car entered the assembly line.
