A technological tour de force, the 918 was Porsche’s first hybrid road car and the spiritual successor to both the 959 and Carrera GT. Like its two predecessors, the 918 incorporated sophisticated technology derived from Porsche’s extensive racing experience, particularly in the powertrain, which consisted of hybrid technology shared with the 919 race car and the 4.6 liter V8 derived from the architecture of the RS Spyder engine. Together with the McLaren P1 and LaFerrari, the 918 was a member of the sensational trifecta of hybrid roadgoing supercars that signaled the future of the performance car and set the enthusiast segment alight around 2015. In the case of the 918, the powertrain provided a total of 881hp, 282hp of electric power from two motors, plus 599hp from the gasoline engine. Car and Driver achieved 0-60 mph in a mind-blowing 2.2 seconds. In all, 918 examples were built and they have already become very collectible.
For an additional $84,000, buyers could add the Weissach package, which encompassed weight reduction and aerodynamic revisions. Magnesium wheels, coupled with more extensive use of carbon fiber and titanium reduced the weight by 90 pounds while a new rear diffuser with aero blades add downforce.
This particular Weissach has covered 160 miles from new and is finished in GT silver with garnet red leather interior with silver piping. It is equipped with front axle lift and Burmester sound system. In 2022, the car received $15,000 of service at Porsche of Fremont, which included a major service, new brake fluid, PDK clutch oil change, new tires, and all open recalls (control arms) were performed as well.
