Since their founding in 1919, Bentley has always focused on building luxury cars of the highest quality and when they could, added some sporty driving characteristics as well. In 1998, Bentley was acquired by Volkswagen Group and finally had the bankroll to build cars that were at their standards from both a comfort and performance aspect and aimed more at the modern consumer than their previous model lineup. The Continental GT and the Flying Spur that followed it were knockout successes and gave Bentley the opportunity to explore the marketplace more and experiment with some different models. What this led to was the introduction of the Bentayga sport utility vehicle which went on sale in late 2015. Based on a chassis shared with Audi and Lamborghini, the Bentayga took the powerful twin-turbocharged W12 from the Continental GT, and put it in a raised SUV body with many luxury interior appointments. Upon its release, Bentley set out to sell 3,500 Bentaygas the first year but overwhelming demand meant that they ended up producing nearly 5,600 units that year alone, quickly taking the spot of Bentley’s most popular model. Utilizing a 48-volt electrical system, the Bentayga’s suspension benefits from an active anti-roll bar system that reduces body roll while still offering a supple ride and the ability to head off road when needed.

This 2021 Bentayga was ordered in beautiful Granite gray paint over black and red “Hotspur'' two-tone leather interior and with the twin-turbocharged V8 that Bentley began offering in 2018. Although smaller than the W12 it debuted with, the performance is nearly the same between the two engines and the V8 is significantly lighter in the front of the vehicle and offers somewhat better fuel economy. The original owner of this car selected nearly $75,000 in factory options making for an exceptionally well outfitted example. In addition to the Granite Gray paint, the “Black Specification'' package was selected which gives all of the trim which is ordinarily chrome, a black finish, giving this car a sleeker and more subdued look. To continue with the subdued theme, factory rear privacy glass was optioned and the “Sunshine Specification '' adds electronically operated sun blinds for the rear side windows. Although the Bentayga was mostly designed for on road driving, it is still a competent off roader and with the selection of the “All Terrain Specification” the driver is given four additional off road drive modes to tailor the car’s setup for any situation you may encounter behind the wheel. As with any luxury car, the interior is where the vehicle truly shines and this car is no exception- the stunning Hotspur and black leather is accented by contrasting stitching and seat piping and deep pile overmats for the front and rear floors give the interior a particularly decadent feel. The two tone steering wheel is heated and affixed to the wheel are the controls for the adaptive cruise control and lane assist functions which are included in the “Touring Specification” package. This Bentayga is a great example of one of the most desirable SUVs on the market and with its extensive list of factory options, this presents a fantastic opportunity to get behind the wheel of a special car without having to get on the waiting list at your local dealer.
