With a naturally-aspirated 6.3 liter 680hp V12, four place seating, and a hatchback, the Lusso is a very special type of Ferrari. It exists at the unusual intersection of epic and practical, all while being packaged in a form-factor aimed more at the hardcore car nut and less at the teenage boy. In short, it is a connoisseur’s car, as long as that connoisseur appreciates glorious V12 noises, 0-60 mph in the low 3s range, and a top speed in excess of 200mph. To celebrate their 70th anniversary, Ferrari produced a series of 70 unique historic liveries, each of which is an homage to a significant car from their past. Each livery was typically applied to one California, one 488 GTB, one 488 Spider, one F12, and one Lusso, resulting in a total of about 350 70th Anniversary cars.
This is one such car, with a blue on red livery that recalls the 1954 Mondial with exceptional and illustrious history that included ownership by Porfirio Rubirosa and Johnny von Neumann, and was also driven by Phil Hill and extensively photographed with James Dean. Faithfully reproduced in bright blue with red interior and the number 235 on the sides, this car has an extensive list of Tailor Made features with superb attention to detail that really differentiate the car. It is a one-owner Northern California car sold new at Ferrari of Silicon Valley and has covered than 2,700 miles from new.
