Significance
Maserati is a brand with a rich history of building winning race cars and stunningly designed, fast sports cars, but its model lineup over the past few decades has not done much to build on that legacy. Aside from the ultra-limited production of MC12 in the early 2000s, Maserati has been more focused on luxury sedans and sport utility vehicles, with their most performance-oriented vehicle being the GranTurismo. In 2020, that all changed with the debut of the MC20 - a rakish mid-engine supercar that had performance to go up against the likes of the Porsche 911 Turbo S and Mercedes AMG GT lineup. In roadtests, it was lauded for its remarkable high-speed capabilities and overall flexibility, with the ability to be driven hard as a sports car while remaining comfortable and composed in street use.
About this vehicle
This 2022 Maserati MC20 is finished in stunning tri-stage Giallo Genio yellow pearl paint with a black roof and shows just 3,564 miles. Fitted with over $170,000 in aftermarket upgrades, it is one of just 25 MC20s equipped with a full 7Design Aria 4K carbon fiber body kit, which costs more than $80,000. Reportedly generating an additional 795 lbs of downforce above 80 mph, this stunning carbon fiber aero package includes a new front splitter, new side skirts, a roof scoop, an intricate rear diffuser, hood vent inserts, bumper canards, and a revised rear spoiler. Once this upgrade was completed, the owner added a Novitec Rosso lowered sports suspension, along with a set of AG Luxury 3-piece wheels with gray centers. The combination of the dark wheels and gloss carbon fiber body kit look incredible paired with the tri-coat pearl yellow paint, and a metal Italian flag graphic on the doors gives another special pop of color. Sitting behind the wheels are a set of optional carbon ceramic disc brakes with Maserati blue calipers, and a front-end lift system was also optioned from the factory, which is great to have with the new lowered ride height. All of the original parts are still available and will be included with the sale of the car if the next owner desires to return the car to stock. The entire car has also been wrapped in 3M paint protection film to keep the paint and limited edition aerodynamics package free from any rock chips or scratches.
The interior of the car was optioned from the factory in an appealing two-tone black and light blue color scheme, with numerous carbon fiber touches throughout. The seats are upholstered in black leather with blue trimming around the edges, blue stitching, and a unique gray-to-blue gradient on the Alcantara centers. The center console is wrapped in Alcantara and features sky-blue stitching along the edges, and on the driver and passenger knee pads. The center bridge is finished in satin carbon fiber, which is also seen, along with Alcantara, trimming the multi-function steering wheel.
Powering the MC20 is an all-new Maserati engine known as the Nettuno. Displacing 3 liters, this V6 features a dry sump oiling system, twin spark ignition, and twin turbochargers. With an 8,000 rpm redline, this engine produces 621 horsepower and 538 lb-ft of torque and will make the 0-60 mph sprint in less than 3 seconds while on its way to a top speed of more than 200 mph. One of the things this engine was regarded for in magazine testing was its outstanding noise - sounding more V12-like than V6, which has been opened up even further on this car thanks to a Capristo race exhaust. The engine compartment has also been upgraded with carbon fiber panels throughout that are finished to a very high quality and, given that you can see into the engine bay from outside the car, do a great job of tying the body kit in with the rest of the vehicle. Service records from Maserati of Atlanta show a comprehensive 2 year service was performed just over 500 miles ago which includes replacing the oil, transmission fluid, spark plugs and belts.
Straight out of the Maserati factory, the MC20 will definitely turn heads - especially in the stunning tri-coat yellow seen on this car. But when you factor in the more than $170,000 spent modifying this example, it is a true one-of-a-kind supercar.
