Significance
First shown to the public at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, the Centenario showcases numerous new technologies for Lamborghini and looks like nothing else on the road. Production was ultra-limited—only 20 coupes and 20 roadsters were to be built—and all of the cars were sold by invitation to select customers. Although there is an Aventador SVJ underneath, the Centenario features a list of changes that make it a very different driving experience.
About this vehicle
This Euro-spec 2017 Centenario is a particularly unique variant, finished in satin carbon fiber with red accents. This exterior finish alone cost over €300,000 and was paired with the metallic red accents as a tribute to the Sesto Elemento, another limited edition car that Lamborghini produced 5 years earlier. Sold new through Lamborghini of Hong Kong, this car remains essentially undriven, showing 61 km at the time of cataloging. A notable feature on the Centenario is the striking rear diffuser- reportedly the largest ever placed on a road car, they, along with the twin-deck front splitter, help produce an impressive 500 lbs of downforce at 174 mph.
Swing open the legendary Lamborghini scissor doors and the cabin is wrapped in black leather and Alcantara with red accents and stitching throughout. The center stack is made up of exposed satin carbon fiber, and a massive 10.1” display in the center was the first to utilize Lamborghini’s new infotainment system, and also allows you to record telemetry and track information.
Powering the Centenario is a tuned version of the Aventador’s 6.5-liter V12 producing 759 horsepower and 509 lb-ft of torque. This engine is connected to a 7-speed ISR automated manual gearbox with paddle shifters like what is used on the Aventador. This single-clutch automated setup provides a truly thrilling drive, providing some of the most aggressive shifting of any car when in Corsa mode. Power is sent to all four wheels through a Haldex system, and a pushrod suspension setup keeps the weight inboard.
With only 40 Centenarios built in total, they almost never come up for sale. If you are a serious Lamborghini collector or somebody who wants what is truly the ultimate in rare exotica, it truly does not get any better than this.
