Introduced in 1996, the flagship Maranello replaced more than twenty years of twelve cylinder mid-engine cars that began with the Berlinetta Boxer and was continued by the three variants of the Testarossa. Designed to recall the glory days of Ferrari's legendary front-engine sports cars (notably the 275GTB and 365 GTB/4 Daytona), the Maranello was simultaneously contemporary and classic. The Pininfarina styling evoked all the grace, proportions, and muscularity of the great vintage Ferraris without succumbing to retro design idioms. Mechanically, the car was at the cutting edge, with a quad cam naturally aspirated 485 hp V12 engine and 6-speed manual transaxle, which endowed the car with a 199 mph top speed.

This particular car was sold new by Wide World of Cars in New York on the 17th of August 1998. The current owner purchased it at Algar in Philadelphia in 2001 at which time it had 2,800 miles. It has been maintained by Ferrari of Silicon Valley, including its most recent belt service at the end of 2018 about 1,500 miles ago. The car was aligned and the power steering pump, tires, and battery were also replaced at this time. The car comes with books, tools, and car cover.

Report summary:

The car is fundamentally sound but has a number of cosmetic issues typical for Ferraris of this era including interior stickies, shrinking leather on the dashboard and rear parcel shelf, ungluing carpet on the rear parcel shelf, aging finish to the window surround trims, stone chips, and damage to the front splitter. The rubber weatherstripping around the trunk aperture is also due for replacement. Mechanically, the car is in good condition, although the AC and horns are inoperable and it is due for a fluid service and brake service.
