2005 Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG
Sold
The absolute top of the line of the sprawling Mercedes SL lineup, the SL65 is a testament to the lunacy of AMG. Fitted with a twin-turbocharged 6.0 liter V12 producing over 600hp and limited to 738 ft-lb of torque (i.e. 1000nm since that's all the transmission is rated to), the car provides explosive performance in an understated package. Car and Driver recorded 0-60 in 3.6 seconds and the quarter mile in 11.6 seconds at 123 mph, figures that remain impressive today and were absolutely spectacular for the period. Costing around $200,000 when new, the cars represent something of a performance bargain today.
This particular one-owner example was sold new at Claridge's Ltd. (now Fletcher Jones) in Fremont, California, and has remained in the San Francisco Bay Area its whole life. It is well-documented and complete with extensive service records from new, as well as complete books set, both keys, all-weather Mercedes-Benz car cover, build card, rubber all-weather floor mats, original carpeted floor mats, Claridges Ltd. license plate frame (now difficult to find since the dealer changed names 15 years ago), and original California 5K license plates.
