The second model developed in its entirety by AMG after the SLS, the AMG GT is a marked departure from the cars Mercedes typically fields. A quick review of the car’s specifications confirms that it’s exactly the type of car to get enthusiasts excited: rear wheel drive, front-mid engine, transaxle dual clutch at the back of the car, aluminum chassis, 1.06g of lateral acceleration, and 0-60 mph in about 3.5 seconds. The dry sump hot-V twin-turbocharged V8 makes the full complement of raucous noises we’ve come to appreciate from AMG and the entire car has an athletic, lithe feel, both in terms of how it looks and how it goes down the road.
For the 2018 model year, the car was face-lifted, both aesthetically and mechanically, receiving a power increase of 14 hp for the base model, and a new model added, the GT C, which sits above both the base model and the GT S. Against the 469 hp of the standard car and the 515 hp of the GT S, the GT C has 550 hp, and is equipped with wider fenders and active rear steering, neither of which is available on the lower models.
This particular GT C is a 2 owner car and is well-optioned with stunning Cardinal Red Metallic (Hyacinth Red) paint, Saddle Brown interior, carbon ceramic brakes, carbon fiber engine cover and door sill panels, matte carbon fiber rear strut tower bar, interior and exterior night packages, DINAMICA steering wheel, Distronic, 19”/20” cross spoke forged wheels, and AMG aerodynamic package. The original MSRP was $179,825 and the car still under factory warranty until 10/8/2023. Recent service includes newer Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, with a 315 size in the rear (305 is the original). The car comes PPF applied to the front end, and with the original books set and window sticker.
