Significance

Porsche has always been a company built on pushing boundaries. With every successive model, they want to better what they have done in the past and then take the lessons learned and apply them to future cars. When the 991 GT3 RS came out, it was the fastest and most track-focused 911 the company had ever produced. The combination of sharp handling and a powerful, naturally aspirated flat-6 made it exciting to drive and helped the car achieve a blistering 7:20 time around the grueling Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit. But in 2017, Porsche decided to take what they learned from the GT3 RS and combine it with their experience in turbocharging to create the most powerful 911 ever produced- the GT2 RS. Debuting at the 2017 Goodwood Festival of Speed, the 991 GT2 RS produced 691 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque out of its twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter flat-6. This power was sent through a 7-speed PDK gearbox to just the rear wheels and allowed the car to sprint from 0-60 mph in just 2.7 seconds and go on to a top speed of 211 mph. Thanks to the extensive use of carbon fiber, magnesium, and lightweight plastics, the GT2 RS weighed in at 3,241 lbs and the optional Weissach package dropped that by another 66 lbs by utilizing carbon fiber and titanium suspension components as well as Magnesium wheels. In September 2017, Porsche test driver Lars Kern took a GT2 RS out on the Nordschleife to see how it would stack up against the GT3 RS. Clocking in a time of 6:47.3, the car was over 30 seconds faster than the GT3 RS and took the crown as the fastest production car to ever lap the circuit with an average speed of more than 114 mph over the nearly 13-mile track. With just 1,000 cars produced, the GT2 RS is one of the rarest 911s to come out of Porsche in recent years and represents a high watermark for the brand as one of the fastest 911s ever produced.

About this vehicle

This 2018 GT2 RS is a particularly special example with nearly $55,000 in factory options including Paint to Sample and the desirable Weissach package. Additionally, this is possibly as close as you can get to a brand-new GT2 RS and shows just 14.3 miles since the car left the factory. Painted in an absolutely gorgeous shade of Brewster Green, the exterior of the car is complimented by a carbon fiber hood, side vents, and roof as well as the magnesium wheels that were optional when the Weissach package was specified. The interior is finished in black leather with Alcantara centers in the 918 Spyder style sport seats and platinum gray stitching is found throughout the inside. It is clear that the original owner of this car ordered it to be the ultimate track version, optioning both the very rare radio delete along with the lap trigger preparation on the Sport Chrono package. To avoid scraping the low GT2 RS specific chin spoiler, the front axle lift system was specified and the essential extended-range fuel tank was also added to the car. There aren’t many opportunities to purchase a 4 year old car that is essentially fresh off the showroom floor- and there are even fewer with a car as special as this 991 GT2 RS.
