Significance

Throughout Ferrari’s history, the use of 3 letter acronyms in their naming scheme has been commonplace through cars like the GTB, TDF, GTS, and SWB, but only one has reached truly mythical status - GTO. Standing for Grand Tourismo Omologata (homologation), the GTO nameplate was first used in 1962 for the 250 GTO. This outstanding race car with its 3-liter V12 up front went on to become one of the most famous and valuable Ferraris of all time. A sublime combination of street and track dynamics and a production run of just 36 cars have pushed values well into the 8 figures on these special vehicles. The next time the GTO name was seen was in 1984 with the introduction of the 288 GTO - a twin-turbocharged V8 designed for Group B racing, the 288 GTO was the starting point for the legendary F40 and is regarded as the first of Ferrari’s hypercars. In 2010, Ferrari debuted their newest vehicle to carry the GTO nameplate the 599 GTO. Based on the already very capable 599 GTB, the 599 GTO took lessons Ferrari learned in their ultra-exclusive 599XX track-only special and built what, at the time, was the fastest road car to come out of the gates in Maranello. With a V12 based on that from the Enzo, the 599 GTO produced 661 horsepower and 457 lb-ft of torque which allowed for 0-60mph in just 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 208 mph. As it was intended to be a rawer and more track-focused 599, nearly 220 lbs of weight were shed from the standard car with the removal of carpeting, sound deadening, and extensive use of Alcantara and carbon fiber on the interior. The bodywork was enhanced with a more aggressive front bumper, deeper rear diffuser and a decklid spoiler which harkened back to that seen on the original 250 GTO. When all of this was put together, it made the 599 GTO one of the most exciting Ferrari road cars of the last 25 years and with production limited to just 599 units worldwide, also one of the rarest.

About this vehicle

This 2011 Ferrari 599 GTO is a stunning example and shows just 2,356 miles from new. First sold through Ferrari of Seattle, the car remained with three owners in the greater Seattle area before being sold to its current Bay Area owner in 2017. Ordered in the quintessential Ferrari color of Rosso Corsa, this GTO was enhanced with a deviated Grigio Silverstone Opaco roof and gloss black wheels which give the car a unique and aggressive aesthetic. Additionally, the Scuderia Shields on the front fenders have been optioned in gloss carbon fiber and the front headlight buckets are also finished in beautiful carbon. Paint protection film has been applied to the front bumper, front hood and front fenders to avoid rock chipping. The inside was ordered to match the exterior with black and red features heavily. The dual bucket seats are covered in black leather with red alcantara centers and the black leather on the dash, door cards and steering wheel are all accented with red stitching. Black leather runs up the pillars and rims the roof panel and the center is covered in red Alcantara to match the seat centers. This car remains in excellent condition throughout and is being sold with a full set of original books and manuals.
