Significance

Very few things on earth are cooler than fast station wagons. The genre was invented by Audi through its legendary collaboration with Porsche to create the 1994 RS2 and from there, the RS brand has grown into an iconic representation of the combination of practicality and improbable speed. Believing that American consumers would not buy high performance wagons, Audi never brought them here, even when it imported other RS products in non-wagon form, notably the C5 RS6, B7 RS4, and C7-based RS7. Noting in more recent years the rabid enthusiasm of hardcore American enthusiasts for fast wagons, Audi USA finally brought the C8 generation RS6 Avant over, creating an outpouring of excitement from stateside enthusiasts that probably exceeded a new R8 announcement.

And the car delivers. Literally, thanks to its 30 cubic feet of cargo space, and also figuratively, thanks to its 591hp twin-turbocharged V8, good for 0-60 mph in an asinine 3.1 seconds. The car is beautifully finished, and is also surprisingly agile and light on its feet. Meanwhile, aesthetically, it is muscular and assertive if you’re a car enthusiast, yet discreet and understate to most untrained observers. And equipped with carbon ceramic brakes, its top speed is on the order of 190 mph; you and your dogs deserve that.

About this vehicle

This particular example is a one-owner 4,500 mile example with an APR [CONFIRM] stage 1 tune which reportedly increased power to about 700 hp. It is finished in Sebring black (actually very dark blue metallic) with cognac interior and is optioned with carbon ceramic brakes with red calipers, carbon optic package, Bang & Olufsen sound system, sport exhaust, executive package (extended leather, heated rear seats, heads up display, soft close doors), driver assistance package (adaptive cruise control, side assis, rear cross traffic alert), and carbon fiber interior trim. The original MSRP was $137,620. In addition to the tune, the car also has adjustable ride height (via a smart phone app), full PPF, and an upgraded steering wheel (the original is included). The car comes with both keys, books, and window sticker.
