Significance
Unveiled at the 2000 Paris Motor Show to commemorate Pininfarina's 70th anniversary, the Ferrari 550 Barchetta is the only convertible variant of the Maranello produced. Based on the 550, it is a Barchetta in the truest sense: it is fitted with only a rudimentary soft top for emergency use, as if to underline that this is a special car intended for use exclusively on nice days. In all, 448 examples were built of this, the ultimate evolution of the 550 Maranello. It joins an exclusive group of open V12 Ferrari road cars, and has accordingly been sought after by collectors from the moment it first appeared.
About this vehicle
This specific example was delivered to its first owner in Turkey in 2001. Kept in the Turkish collection for about three years, it returned to Italy in 2004. After subsequent ownership in Monaco, the car returned to Italy when it was purchased by its current owner, an important collector of race cars and classics. Regularly maintained and with only 10.300 kms from new, it is in very good condition, having received a Ferrari Classiche Certification in 2019.
