Significance

When the Ferrari FF was first unveiled at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, it was one of the most controversial designs to ever come from the brand. In contrast to the stretched coupe look of its predecessor the 612 Scaglietti, the FF now featured a roof that extended almost straight back from the windshield and a hatchback opening in the rear. Some criticized the car for looking too pedestrian but true enthusiasts quickly realized that the FF was a stunning design and easily the most versatile car the brand had ever produced. The FF also marked the first car to come from Ferrari with an all-wheel-drive system which added to the practicality, allowing you to experience naturally aspirated V12 performance in whatever weather you found yourself in.

About this vehicle

Produced towards the end of the production run in 2015, this FF is finished in Bianco Avus and is a lifelong California car with just two owners from new. At the time of writing, this car shows less than 23,000 miles and has clearly been kept in excellent shape throughout by the consignor, with minimal wear present around the vehicle. From the factory, this car was optioned with a set of 20” 5-Split Spoke alloy wheels that are finished in graphite with diamond-turned faces that look stunning and compliment the chrome front grille wonderfully. Additionally, this car has been fitted with desirable Scuderia Shields on the front fenders and subtle silver painted brake calipers.

The inside of the car is covered in rich Cuoio leather, which is contrasted by a black dash topper and black leather door card inserts. On the seats, the classic Daytona-style inserts have been specified which look great and give the interior a more vintage feel. Both the Carbon Fiber Drivers Zone and Carbon Center Bridge have been specified which fits the car with a carbon-covered gear selector area as well as carbon accents on the top and bottom of the steering wheel and carbon shift paddles. Along the rim of the steering wheel are LED shift lights which begin to illuminate as you get closer to the redline, much like you would see on a contemporary Formula 1 car. To make the car easier to use around town, it has both front and rear parking cameras, as well as proximity sensors which are particularly helpful at low speed due to the long sloping nose on the FF.

Under the hood sits a 6.3 liter V12-at the time the largest motor to ever go into a Ferrari road car- and produces 650 horsepower right up at the car’s 8,000 rpm redline. This is connected to a 7-speed DCT gearbox with steering column-mounted paddle shifters that offers instantaneous shifting but is also perfectly happy driving around town in fully automatic mode, unlike the single clutch paddle shift cars that came before it. But what makes the drivetrain of the FF particularly unique is Ferrari’s new 4RM all-wheel-drive system- the first system of its kind from the brand, it is 50% lighter than a conventional all-wheel-drive setup and doesn’t alter any of the exciting dynamics you expect from Ferrari. Driven by a smaller second gearbox that sits in front of the engine, the FF remains a rear-wheel-drive car unless “comfort” or “snow” modes have been activated on the Manettino. Then, when needed, the secondary gearbox will send power to the front wheels in gears 1 through 4, helping you get out of slippery situations, before decoupling at higher speeds.

There is no doubt the FF is a unique car in the history of Ferrari and, along with its follow-up the GTC4Lusso, represents the most usable two-door cars to ever come from the brand. This example has been well cared for from new and is a fantastic way for you and 3 others to experience the outstanding power of a Ferrari V12, in great comfort and with a trunk full of luggage.
