Significance
In response to outcry from enthusiasts, Porsche re-introduced the traditional 6-speed manual transmission for the 991.2 generation GT3. But in typical Porsche fashion, the rest of the car was comprehensively revised, in this case with particular emphasis on the engine, which is the last naturally-aspirated engine left in the entire Porsche model line. Displacement was increased to 4.0 liters while lighter internal components and a sophisticated new valvetrain the redline by 500 RPM to a screaming 9,000 RPM, while power output increased to 500hp, a remarkable 125 horsepower per naturally-aspirated liter, all from a docile street engine with 12,000 mile oil change intervals. Aerodynamics were revised as well and the resulting car is, simply put, one of the best sports cars money can buy at any price.
