Significance
With its lineage dating all the way back to the Willys M1B truck that helped the Allies win World War II, the Wrangler has been a part of the American car scene for more than 70 years. An easily identifiable icon, the Wrangler is known for its off-road prowess and the ability to remove the doors and roof for the ultimate one-with-nature driving experience. Although the Wrangler has advanced technologically over the years, the basic formula stays the same- a pair of solid axles paired with a robust all-wheel-drive setup and an engine that produces gobs of low-down power for climbing up rocks. The JL Wrangler debuted in 2017 and featured numerous new drivetrain options and a comprehensively updated interior, making it a far more upscale place to spend time.
About this vehicle
This 2020 Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon 4X4 is finished in an eye-catching shade of Hellayella Yellow with black accents and numerous aftermarket accessories that make this an even more capable off-road rig. Showing 16,350 miles on the odometer, this Wrangler has been under the care of one California-based owner from new and remains in excellent condition throughout. Approaching this Wrangler, you notice the low-lying roof rack that spans the entire vehicle's top. Produced by Gobi, their Stealth roof rack looks great and adds practicality and is easy to remove if you elect to take the hard plastic roof off. This truck was also optioned from the factory with the Recon Package that fits it with steel bumpers front and rear and 17” alloy wheels wrapped in M/T tires.
The interior is one of the largest upgrades for the JL Wrangler, with comfortable leather-wrapped seats, improved sound deadening, and a great stereo to make it a far more enjoyable driving experience. In this truck, the black leather is accented with red contrast stitching throughout as well as red seat belts front and rear for a more sporty appearance. In the center stack, an 8.4” LCD screen displays the Uconnect navigation screen, which is paired to an Alpine premium audio system with an integrated subwoofer in the luggage area. The optional “Safety Group” also fits the Wrangler with ParkSense rear park assist along with Blind Spot Monitoring and Cross-Path Detection.
Powering this Wrangler is a 2.0 liter turbocharged inline-4 out of the FCA Global fleet. Although this is one of the smallest engines put in the Wrangler by displacement, it is also more powerful than most of its predecessors, rated from the factory at 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. This is partly thanks to the innovative “eTorque” mild hybrid system, which improves fuel economy, torque availability, and performance off-road. This engine is then run through an 850RE Torqueflite 8-speed automatic gearbox which sends power to all four wheels through a transfer case that can be shifted on the fly in the cabin. Both front and rear axles are produced by off-road legends Dana and are fully lockable. Sometimes when you’re off-road, you may encounter a situation where you must air down your tires to get over some particularly loose terrain. That is no issue in this Wrangler, as the consignor has installed an ARB compressor under the hood, which can help you inflate the tires when you return to solid ground.
For the first time in Wrangler history, the JL chassis is a truck that you can use every day without giving up on refinement or practicality. This example in its extreme shade of yellow and with the subtle but desirable list of modifications, would be a great truck to explore your favorite trails or drive out to the beach and take the doors off for some summer fun.
