A shade over 14 miles long, “The Green Hell,” more formally known as the Nürburgring, stands as one of the most benchmarked automotive tracks in existence. Not only is the Nürburgring widely used by automotive manufacturers, it is also one of the most daunting race tracks ever created. Chicanes, blisteringly fast straights, elevation changes, hairpins and the ever-shifting weather all help to contribute to the aptly conceived “Green Hell" moniker that Sir Jackie Stewart coined in 1960. Often one hears of Porsches with names ending in “RS '' shaving seconds off lap records, establishing themselves as the new fastest production vehicle around the Nürburgring. Twin-turbochargers, center-lock wheels, and expansive rear wings are the usual features of these record-setting Porsches. The sound of nothing, four seats, and two trunks capable of holding golf bags and groceries is not what one typically associates with record setting – especially on the Nürburgring. But the Porsche Taycan Turbo S is not typical.
