Significance
The Porsche GT3 has always been the track day special of the 911 lineup- reduced weight, improved braking, more power, and a more extreme aerodynamics package were the hallmarks of the GT3 series of cars. Porsche knew that there were enthusiasts who wanted all of the improvements that came with a GT3, but they were not particularly interested in the large rear wing that had always been found on the model. For the 991.2 generation of 911, Porsche debuted the GT3 Touring- a car that checked every box from the GT3 but was only available with a manual transmission and did away with the rear wing. Once it went on sale, the GT3 Touring became one of the most sought-after cars in Porsche’s lineup at the time and was commanding massive premiums on the secondhand market. Naturally, after finding the car a success, they had a new GT3 Touring ready to go when the 992 GT3 debuted in 2021.
About this vehicle
This 2022 Porsche 911 GT3 Touring is a stunning, nearly new example finished in a Paint-To-Sample shade of deep green called “Black Olive.” Showing Just 408 miles on the odometer, this Touring benefits from nearly $56,000 in factory options. The deep green paint is paired with a set of Satin Neodyme finish wheels, which sit in front of a set of Carbon Ceramic Brakes with black painted calipers. On top of the car, the roof panel is bare carbon fiber, which looks fantastic, and in the rear, a set of Exclusive Design tail lights are fitted.
One of the wonderful things about the GT3 Touring is the remarkably simple interior layout. This car has been optioned with exceptionally comfortable and supportive full bucket seats, which are upholstered in a mix of black leather and a grippy black cloth in the centers. Specified to be just as pleasant to use on the road as on the track, this GT3 is outfitted with a Bose Surround Sound System, auto-dimming mirrors, and the crucially important front axle lift system to help maneuver the car in town.
Powering this GT3 is an updated version of the 4.0-liter Flat-6, which produces 502 horsepower and 346 lb-ft of torque and a 9,000 rpm redline. One of the reasons the GT3 has gained such legendary status is the immense flexibility of the engine- even though it can rev to the stratosphere, it is still extremely tractable around town and has plenty of low-down torque when needed. A 6-speed manual transmission has been selected with three perfectly spaced aluminum pedals in the footwell to make for seamless heel and toe downshifting to increase the driver's enjoyment behind the wheel. One of the major differences in the 992 GT3 is the addition of an unequal-length control-arm front suspension, which was largely influenced by the 991 RSR race car. This allows for a stiffer front end and less dive under braking but without sacrificing comfort over the previous generation car.
It is no surprise the GT3- and the Touring in particular- has become one of the most sought-after new cars on the market. With multi-year waiting lists and numerous hoops to jump through to acquire an allocation, finding a car like this that is very nicely optioned and shows just over 400 miles on the odometer is by far the simplest and quickest way to put a “new” GT3 Touring in your garage.
