Significance
ntroduced as the flagship of the Ferrari line, the Maranello replaced a long line of mid-engined cars that began with the Berlinetta Boxer and was continued by the Testarossa. Meant to recapture the glory days of Ferrari’s legendary front-engined sports cars (most notably the 275 GTB and 365 GTB/4 Daytona), the Maranello is an indisputably beautiful car. The Pininfarina styling is masculine and muscular without being overstated or excessively macho, and the proportions are spot-on. Originally introduced as the 550, the 575 replaced it in 2002, and brought a host of improvements in terms of styling and on the mechanical side as well. These included increasing the power 30 hp to 515 hp, larger brakes, improved aerodynamics, and many other minor changes.
About this vehicle
This particular car was sold new in Florida and spent its life on the east coast until the current owner bought it about three years ago and brought it to California. It is equipped with the exceptionally rare carbon fiber racing seats, in addition to modular wheels and fender shields. It also has the Fiorano handling package, and high power hi-fi with subwoofer. The car has extensive service records showing fastidious maintenance, including a timing belt service in January 2020 which also included the replacement of the water pump and fresh oil and coolant. Previous invoices show proper maintenance including timing belt, hoses, fluid services (engine oil, coolant, brake fluid, power steering, gearbox oil including F1 system service), and rectification of the common sticky issue on the parking brake handle and dash vents.
The car is fitted with a Hyperflow exhaust system, which gives it a considerably more sonorous exhaust note than a Tubi system, and is the best-sound Maranello we’ve encountered. The car is complete with service records back to 2008, as well as tools, books, tire repair kit, window sticker, and car cover.
