Significance

When it was introduced, the Ferrari 488 was the latest in a long line of mid-engined “baby Ferraris” dating back nearly 50 years to the 206 Dino of 1967. Among that legendary line are icons such as the 308 and 355, cars which are anything but “baby” in the minds of enthusiasts. The 488 was the first of these cars to ever employ a turbocharged motor (well not quite, 2.0 liter turbocharged versions of the 308 and 328 were offered in Italy only to avoid punitive taxes for cars exceeding 2 liters in displacement), which caused considerable hand-wringing among Ferrari purists. It also caused a massive transformation in real-world performance. While the 458’s torque peak is 398 ft-lb at 6000 RPM, the 488 makes 561 ft-lb at 3000 RPM. The resulting performance is difficult to fathom, but suffice it to say, the car is an absolute rocket, with 0-60 in 3.0 seconds and a top speed of 205 MPH.

This particular car was purchased by its current owner in 2017 with 204 miles on the odometer at Foreign Cars Italia. Now with 5,426 miles, the car is in excellent condition and received an annual service in June 2021 at Ferrari of San Francisco. It is optioned with fender shields, front and rear parking cameras and sensors, yellow tachometer face, sport sills, diamond finish wheels, yellow stitching, black roof, adaptive front lights, suspension lifter, electric seats, cavallini on the headrests, sport exhaust pipes, colored floor mats with logos, which gave an original MSRP of $302,389. The car comes with cover, window sticker, records, battery charger, tool kit, spare tire kit, and manuals.
