Power is up by 30 hp to 592, thanks to revised engine management and new exhaust that exits on top of the engine lid. Equally important is a significant weight reduction: 185 pounds resulting from a host of changes all the way from lightweight seats to deleted door pockets. The chassis gains forged wishbones, stiffer sway bars and dampers, and carbon ceramic brakes, while the steering rack (hydraulically assisted, of course), is quickened. The resulting car is quick yes, 0-60 takes just 2.9 seconds, but also offers a level of purity and driving enjoyment that markedly exceeds the standard car’s. Coupled with an operable roof, the 600LT spider is a distilled and focused car that is high on experience as well as performance, so much so that Evo Magazine selected it as their Car of the Year when it was released.
