Significance

Introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in 2014 to replace the successful Gallardo, the Huracan shared its naturally-aspirated 10 cylinder mid-engined layout, despite the increasing trend toward turbocharging used by other manufacturers. This alone gives it a distinctive and slightly old-school character which is particularly exciting to enthusiasts; few things compare to a rip to an 8,500 RPM redline in a V10. The pick of the bunch for the traditionalist is the rear wheel drive variant of the car, which is slightly less powerful, but lighter, and most importantly, playful in a way that the AWD version isn’t. Powerslides and burnouts are just a flex of the ankle away for hooligans who prefer tire smoke to tire lifespan.

For the 2019 model year, the entire model line was revised, with all variants gaining power, revised aerodynamics, improved in-car entertainment, and a number of other upgrades. The rear wheel drive car became known as the Evo RWD and is, as ever, the most hilarious of the model line for the enthusiast willing to trade a few tenths of a second of acceleration for a much better time and a considerably lower price.
