This 2017 GT350R is a stunning example of the marque and is finished in the quintessential Shelby color combination of Oxford White with a pair of blue over-the-top stripes. Showing just 1,006 miles, this car is in near showroom condition, even 7 years after it was first sold. As this is the R variant, the exterior has several special touches not seen on the standard GT350. Instead of adding more power to the GT350R, Ford engineers focused on stripping weight from the car using several innovative methods. The most noticeable difference both visually and from behind the wheel, are the carbon fiber wheels- reducing the unsprung weight by nearly 60 lbs, the difference can be felt immediately in back-to-back driving between the standard GT350 and the R. In the rear, a large carbon fiber wing and extended rear diffuser create significantly more downforce and offer improved stability at speed while also keeping the weight down. On the inside, more supportive bucket seats from Recaro are wrapped in cloth and accented with red stitching and replace the conventional Mustang seats found in the standard GT350. The rear seats have been deleted for even greater weight savings. This example is fitted with the Electronics Package, which fits the Mustang with dual-zone climate control and a central touch screen to control the stereo and navigation. The heart of the GT350R is the infamous flat-plane-crank Voodo V8 up front, rated at 526 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque. Although there are Mustangs that have bettered these power numbers with the use of forced induction, this naturally aspirated wonder puts down these big figures while also happily revving to 8,250 rpm. The only gearbox available for the GT350R is a 6-speed manual that sends power back to the rear wheels through a Torsen limited-slip differential. As the “R” is designed for track use, additional coolers have been added for the oil, gearbox, and differential to guarantee trouble-free lapping all day. Another addition for the GT350R is the magnetic dampers installed at all four corners- these can adjust in mere milliseconds and offer a smooth ride when out on the road, but can keep the car roll-free when the road gets twisty. Enthusiasts are already considering the GT350R a future classic, and this example would be the perfect one for a discerning collector. Finished in the ultimate Shelby color scheme and with such low miles, this GT350R is already beginning to appreciate, and there is no reason to think that trend won’t continue.
