Significance
For nearly 20 years, Audi’s RS Avants have been the ultimate “forbidden fruit” to US car enthusiasts. They were always remarkably fast and capable in any weather thanks to their Quattro all-wheel drive system, while the design was both subtle and practical for everyday use. Yet no matter how much American enthusiasts asked, Audi would not bring these cars to the States. Finally, in 2019, after seeing the success of fast wagons like the Mercedes Benz E63 S, Audi elected to start selling the RS6 Avant in America- this generation, known as the “C8” is the fastest one yet and is packed with modern technology such as rear-wheel steering and a 48-volt mild hybrid system. The car immediately grabbed headlines at every automotive publication thanks to its aggressively flared fenders and Porsche 911 rivaling performance. Quickly the order lists filled up with enthusiasts who had been waiting years for the opportunity to buy an RS6 Avant.
About this vehicle
Finished in Daytona Gray Pearl, this 2023 RS6 Avant is in fantastic condition and shows just 5,222 miles on the odometer. With $11,285 in factory options, this car is well-equipped with upgrades to the interior and exterior. The Black Optic Package adds 22” 5-V-Spoke wheels with black accents and high gloss black trim around the car, which blends in nicely with the dark paint color and looks far better than the standard stainless trim. Behind those big 22” wheels is a set of large steel brakes with red calipers contrasting the dark paint and accents. The C8 generation RS6 is immediately recognizable as something special- from its massive box flare fenders to the large honeycomb front grille with Audi’s famous 4-ring logo in the center, the RS6 Avant is certainly the most exciting looking of all the fast wagons to come out of Germany.
The interior is fitted with the Executive Package, which sees black leather covering the seats, dashboard, armrests, and center console- which is all accented with deviating red stitching. The Executive Package also fits the car with a heads-up display, heated rear seats, and power-closing doors- all of which means that this performance car has the luxury to rival anything on the market. The Driver Assistance Package was optioned, adding a suite of modern safety features such as adaptive cruise control, lane assist, and intersection assist- all of which make this car a perfect daily driver and will alleviate much of the stress of driving in bumper-to-bumper traffic.
Powering the RS6 Avant is a 4.0 liter twin-turbocharged V8 which is helped by a 48V mild hybrid system that, when combined, produces 592 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. This gives the RS6 a 0-62 time of just 3.6 seconds and, although limited to 155 mph, is capable of over 190 mph at the top end. This car has been optioned with the Sport Exhaust system that offers an assertive bark under acceleration from the big V8 but does not introduce any drone while on the highway. In standard driving, the Quattro all-wheel drive distributes 40% of the power to the front and 60% rear but can shift up to 70% to the front or 85% to the rear if the car deems it necessary. An adaptive suspension offers a smooth ride but can also lower the car by 10mm at high speed for improved aerodynamics or raise it by 20mm at slower speeds while driving around town.
After nearly 2 decades of waiting, it is safe to say that driving enthusiasts across the United States are thrilled to finally be able to get behind the wheel of an RS6 Avant. With its combination of power, handling and luxury, it is no surprise that it has been a remarkable sales success for Audi. If you want to get behind the wheel of one of the most exciting new sport-wagons, this nearly new RS6 Avant is the perfect car.
