Significance
The Ford Bronco is one of the most beloved nameplates from any American manufacturer. Starting in 1966, the Bronco was the truck that kickstarted the sport utility vehicle, offering off-road performance similar to contemporary Jeeps while also being more comfortable and pleasant to use around town. After five generations, the Bronco was discontinued in June of 1996, but in 2021, Ford brought the Bronco back with a stunning retro design that harkens back to the original truck. Offered in two and four-door variants, the new Bronco could be fitted with off-road tires and suspension from the factory, but for some enthusiasts, that just wasn’t enough. In 2022, Ford announced the Bronco Raptor- a high-performance Bronco variant designed to match the F-150 Raptor for performance in the desert.
About this vehicle
This 2022 Bronco Raptor is a beautiful example, finished in deep blue, known as Azure Gray Metallic Tri-Coat, with a black removable hard top. Showing 1,361 miles, this truck is in essentially showroom condition from new and comes fitted with numerous desirable options from the factory. The Raptor variant of the Bronco is immediately identifiable by the enormous plastic over-fenders and 13.1 inches of ground clearance. On this example, a set of optional 17” black forged wheels with Beadlock capabilities have been fitted and are warpped in a knobby set of BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A tires, which sit beneath a set of black plastic over-fenders.
On most Broncos, the interior is rather spartan- although it has all the modern conveniences you come to expect from a new car, the rest of the interior is minimal. That is not the case with the Raptor- a set of heavily bolstered front bucket seats are upholstered in a combination of Onyx blue leather and Alcantara, with stunning Code Orange accents that are visible through the perforation in the seat centers. Code Orange seat belts are optioned on this truck, as well as carbon fiber trim, which is visible throughout the interior. When you open the doors, the truck is fitted with illuminated Bronco kick plates, and the front door pockets have been replaced with larger bins. In the center stack sits a 12” LCD Touchscreen with a 360-degree camera system and a 10-speaker stereo, and below is a wireless charging pad. Equipped with the Lux pack, this Bronco is also fitted with adaptive cruise control and a heated steering wheel.
Powering the Bronco Raptor is a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged Ecoboost V6 that produces 418 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque. As the Raptor is intended for high-speed desert driving, the entire cooling system has been upgraded to ensure the truck is reliable on even the hottest days. This engine sends power to all four wheels through a 10-speed automatic gearbox, and electronic locking differentials are equipped both in the front and rear. What makes the Raptor stand out from the other Broncos is the suspension- known as the HOSS 4.0 setup. Internal-bypass semi-active FOX shocks sit at all four corners, and real-time suspension telemetry can adjust shock rates as you drive. This means that the Bronco Raptor is just as comfortable on the road as it is running through the desert.
Even if you don’t plan to take this Bronco Raptor off of any desert jumps, it will be just as happy running around town and will look great doing it. If you want Ford's ultimate off-road performance, the Bronco Raptor is the best way to get it!
