Significance

The 991 chassis 911 marked an enormous jump for the legendary rear-engined sports car. It is just the third entirely new chassis since the 911’s launch in 1963. Upon its release at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, the 991 was lauded for its clean lines, upgraded, Panamera-style interior and desirable range of powertrain options. The 991 grew a fair bit in size from the outgoing 997, but with that, interior space was improved significantly and the rear-mounted powertrain was able to move further inwards to help rectify some of the notoriously spiky handling of 911s past. Despite an increase in size, thanks in large part to the use of aluminum and composites, the 991’s curb weight was nearly 100 lbs less than that of the 997 which, when paired with its more powerful engines, made for a properly quick car.

About this vehicle

This 2013 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S is finished in Platinum Silver Metallic over a Black leather interior. Showing 45,155 miles at the time of cataloging, the car was sold new in the San Francisco Bay Area. As a 4S, the car is fitted with a few unique features inluding the Heckeblende rear light cluster that bridges the two tail lights and is an ode to the 964 and 993. It also features wider rear bodywork, which, on this car, is filled out by a set of 20-inch Carrera Classic wheels. From the 993 to the 997 generation, the Targa offering was a large sliding glass roof rather than the traditional removable roof panel. Porsche knew that with the 991, it would go back to the removable roof section, but the glass sunroof option found on this car essentially offers a glass-roof Targa experience for the buyer who wanted that. The interior of this 4S is wrapped in black leather and features 14-way heated, power-adjustable front seats up front. The Premium Package fits this Carrera with auto-dimming mirrors and Porsche Dyamic Light System, which make using this car at night far more pleasant. A multi-function steering wheel is fitted to allow you to control the optional Bose stereo and the hands-free phone interface. One of the things that makes the 911 such a desirable car is that in addition to its sporting nature and exciting behind-the-wheel driving, it is a totally comfortable vehicle to use every day and is fitted with all of the convenience features you could hope for. In the engine compartment sits a 3.8-liter flat-6 that produces 395 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque. This is then sent through a 7-speed manual gearbox to all four wheels with a strong bias towards the rear that only sends power forwards when slip is detected. An AWE Tuning exhaust opens up the glorious noise of this engine a bit more and lets you enjoy the 991.1 for what it is - the final generation of naturally aspirated Carrera ever produced by Porsche. Power Steering Plus has been optioned on this car as well, adding speed sensitivity and making the car feel more planted at highway speeds, and light and nimble around town. The 991.1 is a great era for the 911 and the Carrera from this generation represents the final 911 Carrera fitted with a naturally aspirated flat-6. Although it is impossible to guess how collectibility will be judged in the future, the final naturally aspirated Carrera certainly has the makings of a car that will increase in value, and when paired with a 3-pedal manual gearbox, those chances increase even further.

The detailed inspection mentions there is an issue with front bumper fitment, and the pictures make it look as if there are some paint or composite issues. Can you share more on what's going on with the bumper? Has the car been damaged?

Good catch, there is a clerical error for the fitment question. The only damage is the scrape on the front bumper and underneath the splitter as show in the pictures. There are no alignment issues between the fenders and bumper.
