Significance

When the R35 Nissan GT-R was under development, its mission could simply be summarized by saying the car needs to be effortlessly fast, reasonably priced and easy to use every day- it is safe to say it safely checked all of those boxes. During its launch at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show, the presentation featured a video of the new GT-R screaming around the Nurburgring Nordschleife in just 7:38 before the covers were lifted and the production car was unveiled to the public. In this video, it handily beat the far more expensive 997 Turbo and secured a spot as the 7th fastest production car to ever go around the track. Period road tests praised the GT-R for its effortless speed and grip in every imaginable condition, while still being a perfectly capable daily driver with 4 seats, a dual-clutch gearbox, and Bose audio system. Throughout the GT-R’s life, it has received two facelifts- the first of which arrived in 2010 and the second in 2016 for the 2017 model year. More than just redesigns, these facelifts came with significant performance increases as well to keep the GT-R competitive with its rapidly evolving competition.

About this vehicle

This 2017 Nissan GT-R is a striking third-generation example of the famed performance car and is finished in the gorgeous color scheme of Solid Red over Ivory Leather. Sold new in Ohio, this car has been under the care of three owners and shows less than 10,000 miles from new. This generation GT-R is considered by many to be the best looking from the car’s 15 year production run. A heavily revised grille and new, deviating color side skirts update the look and a specially designed set of 20” RAYS forged wheels are lightweight and far more upscale than the wheels previously found on the GT-R. The rear end design has not changed drastically through the various facelifts but it still looks fresh. Quad-round taillights harken back to older generations from GT-R history and emphasize the four massive exhaust tips protruding from the aggressive lower splitter. When the GT-R was first put on sale, the interior was decent but it certainly wasn’t the reason people bought the car. Although the seats were nice and the technology was good, the design and materials quality left something to be desired. But that is not the case with this car which has been optioned with the Premium Interior Package. Stunning Ivory leather covers the seats, door cards and lower dashboard, while a carbon fiber covered center console helps do away with much of the black plastic found on the earlier models. The center screen is designed by Polyphony Digital- the same studio that created the Gran Turismo video game series and offers the driver a fully customizable gauge set that will track everything from boost to transmission temperature, as well as performance data- all while still functioning as a satellite navigation and audio control system. What separates a GT-R from everything else on the road though, is what sits under the skin. A 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V6 produces an astonishing 557 horsepower and 467 lb-ft of torque with an outstandingly flat power curve. These engines received a lot of press when new in light of Nissan building a dustproof, temperature-controlled room at their Yokohama assembly plant, where they were all put together. Only 5 specially trained craftsmen were allowed to build these motors, which consist of over 300 components and take more than 8 hours each to produce. The engine is then connected to a 7-speed DCT gearbox that shifts so quickly it is almost imperceptible. A common complaint on earlier GT-Rs was, although the gearbox functioned well and was able to shift quickly when going fast, it was a bit clunky and rough around town. For the 2017 update, the transmission was refined for smoother and quieter shifting which makes this a much more pleasant car around town. When this engine and gearbox are paired to the GT-R’s advanced all wheel drive system, the performance is out of this world-0-60 mph happens in just 2.7 seconds and 100 mph comes just 4 seconds after that. Although the GT-R was produced from late 2007 through October 2024, its total worldwide production exceeded 40,000 units. Of those, approximately 15,700 examples were sold in North America - a little under half of the global total - making the U.S. market one of the GT-R’s most significant regions . With its final major refresh in 2017, the GT-R evolved from a raw, Nürburgring-conquering “supercar bargain” into a refined yet blisteringly fast performance car, blending everyday usability with supercar performance. This late-model, Premium‐spec R35 represents the pinnacle of the lineage - cultured, capable, and highly collectible.

Any insight on the accident? Carfax doesn’t show where it was damaged. Any photos, or details would be great. Also, any reason for 3 owners in less than 10k miles? What’s the reason to sell?

There is no accident reported. There is a minor damage report on Carfax. Our paint meter report (attached in the inspection report) shows consistent readings across all painted panels so we believe the minor damage report is due to something small. This is being sold from a good local client of ours.
